The Courtyard and the Loggia

When one walks into the courtyard, one realizes that the same decorative scheme recurs in the three arches of the porch, where there are human heads alternating with pairs of imaginary animals. Higher up on the left, one can see in a niche a large statue of Apollo, by the sculptor Angelo Marinali from Bassano. Beside the statue, and behind windows, there is the beautiful loggia of Hercules – its interior can be seen by visiting the main floor. The Art Nouveau iron balcony of the loggia was added in the nineteenth century by the architect Giovanni Miglioranza; so was the black and white stone pavement of the courtyard. On the wall at the end of the porch one can see a group of statues representing the abduction of Proserpine. One the right, by the wall, there is a shell-shaped stone fountain with statues of Juno and Venus.
